The Town of Mahone Bay has contracted UPLAND Planning + Design Studio to review and update Mahone Bay’s Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw. UPLAND Planning + Design Studio will be working closely with the Town and the community to explore and develop strategies to address key land use themes such as:
Housing
The environment
Urban agriculture
Renewable energy
Commercial and industrial lands
And many others.
Background Report
The Background Report lays the foundation for the updated Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw by exploring some of the fundamental characteristics of Mahone Bay. It explores the environment; socio-economic characteristics including demographics and population trends; housing supply; the local economy; and built form and heritage.
What will inform this project?
Plan Mahone Bay will begin with community and stakeholder consultation to understand your ideas for the future of planning in the Town. That input, combined with a review of the current planning documents for what currently works and what doesn’t, will build the foundation from which we can create relevant and supportive land use policy for the future.
